Description
Solvitol NDT Dye Penetrant System consists of three aerosol packed products used
in conjunction with each other for the detection of surface cracks in metal
components both ferrous and non-ferrous. The system is approved to ASME
specification and complies with DTD929.
Applications
Solvitol NDT Dye Penetrant System has many industrial applications such as
welded seams on tanks, inspection of castings for pump & valve bodies, railway
carriage wheels, engine turbine blades, forklift truck forks, hooks etc. on
cranes and lifting tackle, marine boiler tubes inspection etc.

The System
Aerosol 1: Solvitol Crack Detector Cleaner (CDC)
This consists of a powerful fast drying solvent cleaner designed for the
preparation of the surface before the application of aerosol 2, the Dye
Penetrant.
Aerosol 2: Solvitol Crack Detection Penetrant (DYE)
This product is based upon a red dye, which is designed to penetrate into
surface cracks. It should be applied to a clean dry surface. After leaving the
dye on the surface for a few moments, the surplus should be cleaned off using a
lint free rag soaked in the cleaner.
Aerosol 3: Solvitol Crack Detector Developer (DEV)
This is designed to be applied to the surface immediately after cleaning off the
surplus dye from the surface being inspected. This aerosol will deliver a white
powder film to the surface, which has the effect of drawing out the dye in the
surface cracks. The effect is high definition of the red dye against a white
background. The operation is now complete and the work piece can either be left
as it is for further inspection or cleaned using Aerosol No.1.
